There are lots of things in life that can get in the way of allowing us to be the best versions of ourselves. Dr. Boyer uses her signature strength of perspective to help others develop deep insights into behavior patterns in order to move them towards meaningful growth. She believes that our emotions are the best teachers, and she supports her clients in developing the willingness to sit with and learn from difficult emotions.
Many people come into therapy because of painful experiences or external stressors, which can make them feel helpless, depleted, and overwhelmed. Dr. Boyer often helps her clients see strengths within themselves that they might have lost sight of. She uses a psychodynamic approach infused with mindfulness and acceptance that leads to insight and actionable change.

Biography
Dr. Krista Boyer is a licensed psychologist who provides a range of psychological services. She infuses a mindfulness-based approach to her clinical work and is specifically skilled in identifying the strengths of her clientele in order to foster meaningful therapeutic growth. Dr. Boyer additionally completes a variety of psychological assessments for clinical and forensic purposes, and has been recognized as an expert witness for legal matters. She regularly provides trainings, supervision, and consultation to other mental health professionals, and has presented at the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, The Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association, and the Association for Women in Psychology. She has published several articles in the Pennsylvania Psychologist magazine. She has been featured on BCTV’s Talking Mental Health program as a guest expert and has been a contributor to a mental health program on WMBS radio. During her doctoral practicum training obtained supervised experience at Allegheny General’s Neuropsychology Clinic, Wesley Spectrum’s Partial Hospitalization Program, and at Carnegie Mellon University’s Counseling Center.
She is an adjunct faculty member in the graduate counseling programs at both Carlow and Chatham Universities, and serves on doctoral dissertation committees. In addition to her doctoral degree, she has undergraduate degrees in Art Therapy and Art History, a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology, and a master’s degree in Business Administration. She is currently completing the degree requirements for a master’s degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology, which will allow her to work more collaboratively with physicians surrounding the psychopharmacological treatment of her clients. She is a past board member of Mental Health America of Southwestern Pennsylvania. She is an active member of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association in the RxP Committee and is a board member of the Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association. She has been actively involved in the legislative efforts to grand appropriately trained psychologists prescriptive authority in the state of PA. Awards received include the Distinguished Alumni Leadership Award from Seton Hill University and an Adjunct of the Year Award from Carlow University.
