Master's Level Clinician

Tommy Schoffler

Tommy Schoffler, MFA is a graduate intern in his final semester of the Clinical Mental Health Counseling Master’s Program at WV Wesleyan College, where he also serves as a tenured Professor of Theatre Arts. A professional actor for nearly 30 years, Tommy brings not only creativity and empathy but also a finely tuned ability to help clients express themselves authentically and confidently.

In addition to his counseling training, Tommy is a certified teacher of the Alexander Technique, an evidence-based practice widely used by both artists and athletes to improve posture, efficiency, and the mind-body connection. Tommy has successfully worked with artists and athletes to enhance their performance, reduce tension, improve focus, and strengthen overall presence—skills that translate directly to excelling in high-pressure situations, whether on the field, the stage, or in everyday life. His ability to coach both the inner experience and outward expression of performance makes him uniquely positioned to support clients struggling with perfectionism, performance anxiety, or the desire to take their personal and professional goals to the next level.

Tommy comes to counseling as a seasoned professional who understands what it means to perform under pressure, commit to long-term growth, and overcome setbacks. His transition into clinical mental health counseling is a natural extension of his lifelong work in helping people find their authentic voice, embody resilience, and thrive in demanding environments.

In his clinical work, Tommy incorporates somatic and narrative techniques, positive psychology, and holistic wellness approaches with both individuals and groups. His recent practicum at Stars and Strides, an equine-assisted therapeutic center, gave him hands-on experience supporting veterans and adolescents, further deepening his skill set in trauma-informed and experiential therapies.

Whether working with high achievers, athletes, performers, or individuals navigating anxiety, grief, or life transitions, Tommy’s mission is clear: to help clients embody confidence, strengthen resilience, and step fully into their best selves.

In case of a mental health emergency during or outside of scheduled therapy appointments, do not contact your therapist directly, but instead, seek immediate help by calling 911, going to the nearest emergency room, or contacting crisis hotline (988).
