If you have health insurance, your plan may cover all or part of your mental health services. Most plans require you to pay a co-pay or co-insurance, and you may need to meet a deductible before full coverage begins. To help avoid unexpected charges, please provide accurate and up-to-date insurance information. We also strongly recommend calling your insurance company to confirm how your plan covers mental health services.
Understanding Your Insurance Coverage for Mental Health Services
Your insurance card has the phone number for member services—usually on the back. When you call, here are some helpful questions to ask:
Do I have coverage for mental health services?
Do I have a deductible? If so, how much is it, and have I met it yet?
Do I have a co-pay for in-office mental health visits?
Is there a limit to how many sessions I can have each year?
Is my mental health coverage managed by a different company (a “carve-out”)?
If your plan uses a separate company for mental health, and we’re not in-network with that company, your insurance may not cover your visits with us. This is sometimes listed on your insurance card, so double-check when you call.
A Few More Tips:
Most insurance plans reset on January 1st. This means your deductible and out-of-pocket costs start over at that time, which can affect what you pay for sessions.
When scheduling your first appointment, please have your insurance card ready. We’ll ask for the name of your insurance and your member ID so we can check your benefits as a courtesy.
Insurance & Co-Pay Disclaimer
Please note that any co-pay, co-insurance, or deductible amount provided is only an estimate based on the information available at the time of scheduling. The final cost of your session will be determined once your insurance processes the claim. You are financially responsible for any portion of the session not covered by your insurance, including any differences between estimated and actual costs. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly if you have questions about your coverage.
Office Policies
Cancellations, No-Shows, and Late Arrivals
We require at least 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule your appointment. If you cancel late or do not show up, you will be charged the full session fee. Please note: Insurance does not cover missed appointments or late cancellations. You will be 100% responsible for the full cost, not just your usual co-pay or co-insurance. If you arrive late, your session will still end at the scheduled time, and you may lose part of your session. Repeated no-shows or last-minute cancellations may result in being discharged from the practice. This policy is posted here for transparency. By scheduling, you acknowledge and agree to these terms.
